Awareness Through Movement (ATM) is a ~6o minute class done in a group setting, offered on Zoom or In-Person. Each lesson highlights novel movement patterns and specific kinesthetic relationships to uncover/recall more possibilities in the way you organize yourself to better serve you in doing the things you want to do. I co-teach
class with Feldenkrais practitioner, Krista Langberg.

The space will be open 10 minutes before class begins. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early, especially if you are new, to sign in and familiarize yourself with the space. Our shoulders are beautiful structures. At their best they float, slide, and glide over our ribs, enabling our arms and hands to reach further into our world around us. The amazing anatomy that allows for so much freedom (the whole shoulder/arm structure connects to the rest of our skeleton at only two small joints) can also be overtaken by a muscular holding that limits not only the functionality of our arms, but our necks, heads and upper backs as well. Join us for a six-week Awareness Through Movement series where we deepen our attention to the mobility of our whole selves by way of our shoulder girdle. As winter slowly thaws and yields toward the promise of spring, let’s allow our shoulders to thaw too.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT A FELDENKRAIS CLASS
ATM class most often takes place lying down, but occasionally in sitting or standing. I provide verbal proposals and guide learners as they move. There is a strong emphasis on moving slowly, easily, and staying within the range of personal comfort so that you can refine your sense of what you are doing and how you are doing it. ATM is perhaps different from other movement classes in that its goals are not about stretching, strengthening, relaxing, meditating, or imitating. Instead lessons are designed to engage your curiosity in yourself and to refine your innate powers of awareness. I co-teach all classes with Feldenkrais practitioner Krista Langberg.
